The benefits of stem cell research and cloning does not outweigh the adverse aspects associated with them both. The following principle must be keenly observed:

The benefit must outweigh the harm for its permissibility.

In the case of stem cell and cloning research we are not able to conclude that the social/medical cost/benefit is superior to its adverse outcome. On the contrary, such research is associated with greater maladies on multiple levels.  Such research should be refrained from by those that have alternative choices to such research.
