even if you do not take the survery, these survey questions have some implications

Polite Request:

???? ?????

Forgive me for intruding, but I am in a class on contemporary Islamic culture at BYU and am doing a research project on Islamic courtship rituals, with my project placing special emphasis upon such rituals in the Gulf States. If there are a few individuals from the Gulf States (Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Oman) who could complete a short questionnaire at the link pasted below, I would be very grateful. Thank you for your willingness to help.

guest alone does not justify walking out

Q: ?????? ????? ????? ???? ???????

Hope you and your family are doing well by the grace and mercy of Allah, Imaam.

My family is going to host another family at our house for the next few days and there are some girls included as well. My question is, as a single man, is it permissible for me to stay in my own house despite having strange women living in the same household? They are just a few years younger than me and are friends of my sisters. I am insisting upon leaving for a few days and live elsewhere while they are here but my family is accusing me of “over-reacting” because my parents and the parents of the girls will be here the whole time. However, as the days creep closer (this Thursday until Monday) of the family’s stay, I cannot but help to keep on thinking of the Qur’anic ayah of close meaning, to not even come close to Zina.
If you can answer before this Thursday that would be most appreciated. I just want to do the best thing according to Qur’an and Hadith but also not ostracize my family as being too “strict with religion”.

Jazakullah Khayr,

Wasalam

thrill yourself with better things

Q: Yesterday, I submitted a question to you, but upon further reflection I realized that I should have included my reason for asking. So, please ignore me previous submission. I asked if it is harem or forbidden to attend and/or participate in bodybuilding competitions. I am asking this because I attend competitions in order to gain inspiration for my own physical goals. I see those who have worked so hard, up on stage, and I can see that they have achieved what I want so badly. They are living testaments to me that a tone and fit physical body is possible. ‘They did it, so can I’. As for competing, once I achieve my physical goals, I would like to stand along side those who inspired me, so that I may inspire others. However, I’ve been told that to display my body in such an immodest manner is harem, and that to look upon men and women while they are dressed scantily is harem, no matter the reason. I would go online to see pictures and gain inspiration, but in my mind they are
not ‘real people’, and seeking pictures online can lead to seeking other things online that I do not wish to be tempted with.

your womb is not toys R’us for the wealthy

Q: A family member of ours in (xxxxx) was approached to loan out her stomach for giving birth to a child. many woman in (xxxx) are doing it for people in europe. Is this allowed? would the money be halal?(text)

A: To loan out the womb is not permissible. This is a forbidden (haram) option. It must be abstained from at all costs.

This modern day occurrence of ‘womb loaning’ generally constitutes an exploitation of the poor at the expense of the wealthy. The wealthy not being able to attain children remains an example that wealth is not always a blessing and not being able to gain children thus functions as a worldly humiliation for them. Accepting ones condition of not having children would not be defined as humiliation, for a believer accepts that everything happens for a reason. Similarly, this ‘loaning of the womb’  has turned woman into products of social exploitation for minor economic gain and babies into objects of purchase.

Allah (SWT) has not allowed for certain people to be able to give birth for reasons He knows best. To tamper with the biology and/or system of Allah (SWT) as done through the system of ‘loaning’ out the womb is not only an exploitation of people lacking in funds, but also shows insensitivity to human life and the value associated to it.

Money earned through such a haram measure would always be forbidden. Haram earnings and earnings through exploitation of human life and human dignity would always be reduced in barakah (blessedness) regardless of its temptation or outer lucrative appeal. (Derived from Quran and hadith.)

Wealth accumulated through haram means only calls for restlessness of the heart and begs calamities of all types from the Creator. (Derived from Quran)

Allah Certainly Knows Best
