Asalam’Alaikum.

I am a shoe manufacture. Lately we ventured into buying from other manufactures. We get shoes that would sell in the wholesale for 25 for about 10 if not less. This is due to the volume we purchase.  So as one can tell, the profit is great. The temptation for haram is also just as great. Our customers are in Malaysia, and countries int he middle east.

my question: a lot of the shoes that we want to buy are made of pig skin. what is the ulamas opinion on this?

Jazakallah

Answer:

Walaikumsalam,

Distinguishing between Halal and haram has become a challenge for many individuals. In times where people can care less between halal and haram, you are truly blessed to ask and InshaAllah act upon this answer. May Allah (SWT) bless you in continually feeding your family and other loved ones with that which is pure, ameen.

Buying and selling pig is forbidden. Pig is part of what is called najis-ul-ayn. Najis-ul-ayn refers to that which is inherently impure and is part of that which can never ever be purified.  Therefore, to deal it — buying, selling or even wearing will not be allowed.

May Allah (SWT) continue to help you make choices that will make each of you proud of your transactions in both the worlds, ameen.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
