Q: i am a 27 year old male. she is 21. i was taking sign language classes.  mashaallah there was a muslim girl that i met that cannot talk. we both want to get married. my parents say that because she cant give consent for marriage that the nikah will not go through. marriage

please clarify

thanks

A: The criterion for nikah is that she be sane, mature and consenting. Likewise, if her guardian finds you both compatible, they too can also give their approval.

She can also claim her approval through sign language to those that understand what she is communicating. Likewise, she can express her approval through a written note.

May Allah (SWT) bless every sister and brother that continues to abstain from zina (adultery) and find happiness through the institution of nikah, Ameen.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.
